The Dietetics department at the hospital provides comprehensive services for inpatients and outpatients in order to achieve optimal nutrition status and care through nutritional assessment, intervention and education.

Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
The hospital’s Laboratory with its reference laboratories provides a broad spectrum of tests covering a myriad of illnesses, and disease, ranging from the simplest to the most complex. More than 1000 tests, panels and profiles are offered for the screening, diagnosis and monitoring of disease states.
The pathology department offers consultative services with regard to hematopathology, infection control, Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance, as well as a full spectrum of general laboratory services.
The department covers the followings:
- Clinical Hematology.
- Clinical Microbiology.
- Clinical Microscopy.
- Transfusion services.
- Clinical chemistry, Serology, and immunology.
- Phlebotomy service.
The department following a strict internal and external quality program. We are participating in the College of American Pathologists (CAP) proficiency testing as Quality external program. The laboratory is ready for CAP accreditation.
Pharmacy Services
The Pharmacy, which is conveniently located near the Outpatient Department, Emergency Room and the main foyer of Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital is open 24 hours, 7 days a week.
The pharmacy department provides medication coverage to the following services:
- Coverage to outpatient clinics
- Emergency Department
- Admitted patients
- Discharge medications services through Inpatient Pharmacy
- Dialysis
- Narcotic and Controlled medications to admitted patients through decentralized distribution
- Controlled medications to outpatient and discharged patients
In addition to this, the pharmacy provides the following specialized services:
- Patient Education on high risk medications
- Medication reconciliation upon admission and upon discharge
- Support of accurately and timely medication delivery
Physiotherapy
The department of physiotherapy at SKGH offers the following services:
- Orthopedic rehabilitation including pain management
- Neurological rehabilitation which includes stroke rehab, Parkinson’s disease, traumatic brain injury, muscular dystrophies and multiple sclerosis
- Pediatric rehabilitation for cerebral palsy, mentally challenged patients, Spinal Bifida, etc.
- Physiotherapy management for critical patients
- Physiotherapy rehabilitation for all geriatric patients
- Respiratory physiotherapy for patients with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis, etc.
- Women’s health including prenatal and postnatal care and urinary incontinence
- Ergonomic advice and education on postural correction
- Prevention and managing occupational overuse injuries.

Radiology Department
The Radiology Department is located at the ground level of the hospital conveniently near the Outpatient Department and the Emergency Room. The radiology department provides an advanced imaging services using cutting edge technology 24 hours, 7 days a week The department is equipped with state of the art machines like 256 slices dual source CT scan, 3D and 4D ultrasound machines and 3 Tesla MRI.
